Timeless Baa Atoll polish
Vakkaru is the polished all-rounder of Baa Atoll — a bigger island than most neighbours, planted with thousands of coconut palms, ringed by deep white beach. Merana, the overwater bar at the end of its own jetty, is the sunset spot. The tennis set-up is unusually serious for the Maldives, Hanifaru Bay is in reach for manta season, and the split between family and couples' ends of the island is handled quietly.
