The Seychelles is not a single-island destination and treating it as one is the commonest mistake. This routing takes Mahé first for the arrival and the hillside villas above Petite Anse, moves to Praslin for the Vallée de Mai and Anse Georgette, then finishes on La Digue, where there are almost no cars and Anse Source d'Argent is a bicycle ride away.

Day 2
Petite Anse
The south-west coast, reached by a road that drops through the hills. It is the beach Mahé is worth staying for.
Day 3
The interior
Mahé has real hills and a real forest behind the coast, which surprises people who came only for the water.
Day 4
Victoria
The market is the reason to go — fish, spice and coco de mer — and it is worth being there before eleven.

Domestic flight to Praslin
Fifteen minutes, and spectacular. Constance Lémuria sits on the north-west with three beaches of its own.
Day 6
Anse Georgette
Regularly called the most beautiful beach in the Seychelles, and access to it runs through the resort. A private boat gets you there without the walk.
Day 7
Vallée de Mai
A UNESCO site and the only place the coco de mer grows wild. Guided by a naturalist, because the interest here is botanical rather than scenic.
Day 8
Golf, and the water off Kerlan
The only eighteen-hole championship course in the Seychelles, green fees included. Shipwrecks, coral and turtles off Grande Anse Kerlan for the afternoon.

Cat Cocos across, and then there are almost no cars. Bicycles are yours for the stay; where you sleep is chosen with you.
Day 10
Anse Source d'Argent
Early, before the light goes hard and before anyone else is on it. The granite runs down into shallow water and there is nowhere else quite like it.
Day 11
Grand Anse
The wilder side of the island, over the hill by bicycle. Stronger water, and almost empty.
Day 12
Ferry and flight from Mahé
Back the way you came, with the connection built in.
